1970 Scout 800A Michael Hunt’s 1970 Scout 800A continues its transformation from under powered brush buggy status to a modern hot rod diesel 4x4 loaded with luxuries. Powered by a turned up 4BT Cummins making an estimated 300 HP. Turbo is a Garrett GT3582R dual ball bearing 61.4-68mm piece. A 4 pass 12x24 air to air inner cooler with 3 in plumbing, custom intake plenum & mild port work take care of the air. We just sourced a P7100 Bosch fuel pump that Brad Ponci will re work. Transmission is a GM TH350 with a custom diesel converter. Transfer case is a rebuilt 32 spline GM205. A custom built Tom Woods drive shaft with 1350 U Joints connects to a Munk Race Fab built 9 inch Ford rear. Late model 2 ½ inch wide YJ springs were used with custom built spring hangers and shackles. We are narrowing a GM Dana 44 front end & considering a 4 link/Fox coil over front suspension. Slotted/cross drilled four wheel power disc brakes, power tilt steering, vintage air heater/AC. Corbeou leather seats.
