Angelo Munk, owner of Munk Race Fab built the car over a four year time period with help
and input from the car’s owner, Brent Smith. Many custom mods and attention to detail have
produced a first generation Camaro, that looks, sounds and handles great. Some of the mods
include rear mini-tub, rear springs relocated with trunk floor being boxed to move spring
shackles up out of sight behind rear valance and lower car 2 inches in rear. Trunk was also
sectioned to accommodate triangle eng. Aluminum fuel cell. A Billit Specialties horn button
replaces stock fuel cap on tail panel and operates a release solenoid to open trunk. Interior
mods include a narrowed rear seat re upholstered to match pro car front buckets. Front seat
mounts were fabricated to put seats very low in car and give 8 inches of forward to rear travel.
A kick out box was built to house shifter. A Vintageair heater/defrost was hidden under dash.
Autometer gauges, ididit chrome tilt column. Custom painless wiring, Billit steering wheel,
door handles, window cranks, etc. Up front the lower fender extensions were welded in,
inner fenders removed, wheel lips reradioused. Firewall was shaved and filled.
Front bumper was removed for a smooth look. Hella flat headlights were installed.
MSD 6al box is inside car under dash and most wiring was hidden for a cleaner look under hood.
Custom mounts were fabricated pushing massive Ron Davis aluminum radiator forward to make room for
long water pump, Billit Specialties Serpentine pulley system and two 1700 cfm electric fans.
Car was finished in April ‘07 in time for summer cruising and show season. Munk Race Fab is
currently working on a fully optioned 1968 RS/SS convertible Camaro that will be a concours restoration.
